On Wednesday March 25th, the Lady Gladiators beat the AUR She Wolves with a final score of 6-1 in the last game of the regular season.
Following Tuesday’s hard-fought game against Barracuda for the “Coppa Time” semifinal, Coach Farina chose to give all Gladiators the same playing time. However, AUR started the game strong and found themselves in the lead after 5 minutes of game time. The Gladiators managed to make an impressive recovery, tying the score just a few seconds later with a very skilled play by Hegel. JCU continued the goal streak with 5 additional scores by Stoneman (2), Luvisotti, Marinez, and Captain Martynovych.
Although the University Championship has not come to and end, the JCU Women’s soccer team officially secured the first placement in the regular season, thanks to a total of 6 victories, 1 draw, and only 1 loss; tallying a total of 19 points, 71 scored goals, as well as a goal difference of +40!
The Athletics Coordinator, Marco Iorio, is absolutely thrilled with the result: “After 3 years of incessant hard work, we are making great leaps forward with regard to all of our teams- but the season isn’t over yet and we must maintain the same focus and enthusiasm until the end! We are very proud of our Gladiators, and I am certain that the entire JCU community will provide the teams with great support during this decisive month for our Lady Gladiators, as well as the whole of JCU athletics”
The month of April will prove both extremely important and busy for the JCU Lady Gladiators. On April1st, JCU will face Roma Tre for the third-place playoff of the “Coppa Time” league. On April 22nd, the Gladiators will continue the fight with the semifinals of the Roman Universities Championship, followed by the finals on April 29th. Come show your support and cheer on the Lady Gladiators during their matches! For more information about Athletics at John Cabot University, check out our Facebook page.
