The first stop was in Caparzo Srl Società Agricola, a family-run wine business, close to Montalcino. The students met their guide Ilaria who took them around the large winery and explained the wine production process step by step.
Later, students took part in a wine tasting: two types of red wine (Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino D.O.C) and a local dessert wine (Moscadello Vendemmia Tardiva) were served along with outstanding Tuscan ham, salami, cheese with honey, bruschette with local olive oil and homemade cantucci. After the light lunch, students enjoyed the sun and the beautiful landscape of the Tuscan countryside.
In the afternoon, students took the bus to the small town of Montalcino, where their tour guide Serena revealed all the secrets of the village, from the typical and delicious local food product shops to the famous Fortezza that offers a breathtaking view of the landscape.
