Based on Federico Fellini’s film 8 1/2, Maury Yeston wrote Nine in 1973, and Arthur Korpit later developed it into a book. The original Broadway production opened in 1982, running for 729 performances. The story is set in 1960’s Venice and focuses on the film director Guido Contini who has lost creative inspiration for his upcoming film, while entangled in romantic relationships, and on the brink of a mid life crisis.

Professor Gaby Ford directed the musical, JCU’s Performing Arts Company did a wonderful job recreating the musical through song, costume, and choreography.
